Combating Negative Self Talk

I consider myself to be a positive, upbeat person. Yes, I am sarcastic and I say things you would not repeat to your mother. But as a general rule, I wake up happy. That said, I am a human being and of course there are voices (not THOSE voices) that try and drag me down. You are fat. Your house is not as nice as other peoples houses. Your kids are making you crazy. But these thoughts are energy suckers and they are rolling balls of dusty crap. And they grow on each other like gremlins after midnight. So what can we all do to stop them? When one of my girls was smaller she was having a hard time. So we started this ritual. Every night we would go to the window and through the badness out of the window. All the hurt and the bad thoughts went away before falling asleep. Then we would lie in bed and talk about when we felt good today. When we were proud. What moments were awesome. And as she drifted off, that is what I hoped she would be left with. Positivity is not magic or given; it's earned and learned. So start today or any day you might need it, by throwing the badness away. Stop blaming other people and take responsibility for you. And that means for all your mistakes, but it also means for all your successes. Think about all the times today that you did something right. Look in the mirror, and smile. Smiles go along way. And don't forget to say thank you :)

xx, Randie
